Award Ceremony Expression of Interest to Host

Have you considered hosting a YABBA Awards Ceremony at your school?

Events like this are one of the most effective ways to engage your whole school with Australian authors and illustrators. It’s also a great way to get teachers, parents and students to support your library and literacy teams!

Plus, it’s a great opportunity to get out into the community and share all the wonderful things you are doing!

YABBA can help you to do this just by opening your school to our members and an A-list of amazingly talented authors and illustrators!

The rewards from hosting a YABBA Ceremony are worth all the work – just ask me as I’ve hosted it. The truth is, hosting an event is the key to drumming up support. Imagine how powerful your message about reading could be if you had all the biggest authors and illustrators in one place – YOUR PLACE – YOUR SCHOOL!

Four reasons why hosting the Awards Ceremony is a must-do:

Engage Readers

An event that captures the attention of your target audience, THE YOUNG READERS IN YOUR SCHOOL is going to make a lifelong memory for the students who take part. The great thing is, you can reinvent the ceremony to suit your unique school without the venue hire costs or expensive bus costs associated with organising an excursion!

Share the ELECTRIC experience

When it comes to giving you their time, their voice, and their efforts, our authors will get to know you, your students and BE AT YOUR SCHOOL – it’s an electric feeling for all involved. Hosting an event is a simple yet effective way to share the importance of READING – giving students an opportunity to learn about their favourite authors and MEET them IN PERSON!

The key is to create a positive, interactive atmosphere where two-way communication thrives and the SIGNING Ceremony does just that.

Partnership with YABBA

At a YABBA event you have an opportunity to play host to a highly-engaged, captive audience and HAVE FUN.

YABBA organise the authors and you partner with us and play host by offering the use of your school hall, sports stadium or auditorium. It’s great to have access to sound and lighting but not mandatory.

Shake up the students – get them excited to READ, RATE, RECOMMEND and REWARD

The YABBA ceremony puts you and your school in the spotlight and our authors love seeing students and visiting schools. Hosting the YABBAs is like the biggest school fete you’ve ever had – a fun way to give-back, get excited and SHAKE the whole school up to the love of reading! Awaken your inner YABBAness and get onboard today!

Use this form to submit your expression of interest to host the YABBA Awards Ceremony either for this year or future years

  • Consider gymnasium, school hall, theatre and library spaces.
  • We need a space that can hold 300 students and 100 adults
  • Having attended a past YABBA Awards Ceremony helps you understand the model we use, but it's not a requirement
  • Your SLT might need to help mobilise a team from across the school to truly showcase your school
  • You will need to cater for ~75 adults for morning tea and maybe decorate the space to make the day special, that might require a small amount of funding $1,000-2,000.
