YABBA is a not-for-profit volunteer-run incorporated organisation working to bring Australian books alive for children. Our ultimate goal is to have children Recommend, Read, Rate and Reward their favourite Australian books.
The Annual YABBA Timeline
There are four stages to the YABBA Awards, with one stage being held per term.
Organise your school’s participation by following the steps below and popping the important dates in your calendar!

Read
Once the Shortlist is out,
read as many of the books as you can between April and September.
Rate
Start a process of
rating the books
so you can vote
before voting closes.
20TH SEPTEMBER, 2024
Reward
Reward your favourite
books with your vote!
Vote online here or
through your school.
22ND OCTOBER, 2024

Virtual Author & Illustrator Program
The YABBA Council is truly honoured to be partnering with the Victorian Department of Education (DE) in 2024.
Our partnership sees YABBA working with the DE alongside the Curriculum Implementation Division in each regional office to coordinate all Victorian Government Primary & Secondary Schools participation in the 2024 YABBA Program.
Non-Government schools can log into the virtual sessions as part of your current membership.
All Victorian Government primary & secondary schools are members in 2024.
